Starlette Rouge 2010

Farm location |

Coastal Region, Paarl und Stellenbosch

Wine description |

Grapes from selected site are harvested, sorted and then crushed. The berries undergo 3 days of cold soaking to extract flavor and colour. Yeast is added and pump overs are used 3 times per day to help with extraction. After fermenting on the skins for 5 days the grapes are gently pressed and the wine undergoes MLF in tank. 50% of the blend was aged in 2nd & 3rd fill French oak barrels and remainder was left on French oak staves for 12 months. After blending, the wine was carefully filtered and bottled.

Winemaker?s notes |

The colour is a rich dark crimson red. Beautiful spicy flavours of nutmeg and cloves welcome you.  Followed by ripe cherry and an intriguing fynbos character. The palate is soft and elegant with upfront very fruit and ends with smooth vanilla and chocolate flavours. A fruit driven wine for every day. Recommended dishes: Pair with fresh pasta topped with basil cherry tomatoes, slithers of parmesan and drizzled with olive oil. Or open a bottle with friends while sitting around the BBQ.
